Transferable skills, also known as "portable skills" are qualities that can be transferred from one job to another. These might include skills such as adaptability, communication, teamwork, Technology literacy, leadership, and many more. Transferable skills can be used to present your past experience as valuable when applying for a new job—especially if it’s in a different industry. These skills are more interchangeable and flexible, in that you can demonstrate how such skills can be relevant for multiple roles or within different job functional departments.
3 Transferrable skills are mentioned and explained below:
1. Fast Pace:
After working in the Fast food industry for 3.5 years, the very first skill that I have developed over years is being fast on my feet. Generally, customers want to be taken care of asap. They do not like to wait around too long before they get to speak to a human being. Once they got the chance, they want their issue to be solved sooner rather than later. First-class customer service reps know how to keep up the pace and stay super efficient at the same time. They work quickly, but continue to provide top-quality customer service.
So, this skill can be used in industries where we have to multi-task and have projects that have time constraints.
2. Stress resistance:
This can be explained as being able to work under pressure, where we develop the ability to work under pressure dealing with constraints that are often outside of our control. These might be last-minute changes, upcoming deadlines, and a lack of knowledge required to finish your tasks. To work under pressure also means that you must still perform well. Don’t allow stress to affect your quality of work. The best thing to do is to put aside your frustration and emotions and find the best way to continue to work normally.
Employers will often ask if you can work well under pressure. It’s a sought-after skill many organizations value highly. If you possess work under pressure skills, you can maintain level-headedness when urgent needs arise instead of getting stressed out and overwhelmed. And no matter where you work, there will undoubtedly be occasions where you have to work in high-pressure situations.
