Promoting Work Health and Safety at NAVITAS

What is WHS?

Work health and safety(WHS) also known as occupational health and safety (OH&S) refers to health and safety practices that are established and carried out in order to ultimately prevent or mitigate any injury, illness, or any kind of possible mishap in the workplace.

WHS relies on 3 core objectives:

1. Hazard identification: identifying anything or process that can cause harm in the workplace.

2. Risk Assessment: analyzing the likelihood of hazards causing harm to workers as well as to what degree.

3. Control of hazards and risk: measures to put forward to prevent, eliminate, or reduce hazards and risk at the workplace.

Why promote WHS?

In a workplace, WHS promotes and works to ensure the prevention of accidents and other incidents in a work environment. Workplace accidents and incidents lead to a considerable amount of human suffering, pain, and emotional trauma which WHS aims to drastically reduce or prevent. Proper implemented WHS program saves time and improves productivity.

Navitas as an employer has responsibilities to their employees to provide and maintain a safe working environment that is without any risks to health. These include providing information, training, and supervision to employees to enable them to perform work safely without any risks.

Promoting WHS helps to deliver many benefits to employe, employers,s, and organizations. This includes:

1. improved health and wellbeing

2. greater productivity, higher performance

3. greater work participation and increased job satisfaction

4. less work injury, lower worker's compensation.
